The founding of the center was not without controversy. In researching through old clippings and minutes of meetings there were more than a few bitter comments made about just whose community the center would serve and how it would impact on the immediate neighbourhood.

People tend to forget what was said, and the community's history (which is after all an important definition of the collective self that says we are. . . . ) is always subject to remembering what you want to. What you said and what you did tend to get re-written.
