While going through the thousands of snapshots supplied to me for this project I only located about 6 or7 images of senior citizens where I felt that activities oriented to them alone were the major focus of the image. This is as opposed to an overwhelming barrage of cute and positive images of happy kids. This under representation of this group moved me. Perhaps it was by choice that many of these people did not want their pictures taken? In any event there is a kid's poem by Longfellow I like called "The Castle Builder" and one line in it talks about "building castles in the air" in the context of not losing childhood dreams and ambitions. The people in this room are making small circles in the air with their feet and hands as exercise for them . In the image I heve inserted an (apparently) old family snapshot that perhaps recalls a treasured memory which has above it some hands filled with clouds. |
